Martin Drury is leaving Brentford just three Premier League games into the season, after leaving behind Valencia to join up with Keith Andrews and his staff this summer
Former Manchester United coach Martin Drury is reportedly leaving Brentford just two months after being appointed.
Drury became a part of Keith Andrews’ coaching staff with the Bees this summer as the club tried to rebuild. Brentford lost long-term manager Thomas Frank to Tottenham and Andrews stepped up to take his first head coaching role.
Andrews brought in Drury as his assistant first-team coach, but the relationship has not lasted long at all. BBC Sport reports that he is leaving the club just three Premier League games into the new season, with no explanation yet given.
Drury has previously worked at United, West Brom, Bradford and Valencia before linking up with Brentford in July. After being appointed, he posted on X: “Delighted to be joining such a fantastic football club. Very much looking forward to working with all the staff and this exciting group of players.”

Before joining Brentford, Drury had worked as an assistant to Carlos Corberan at La Liga side Valencia. “With great sadness, I am leaving Valencia,” he wrote on July 5. “The city, the club, and the incredible people with whom I have grown up will always be in my heart.
“Thank you very much to the players and the staff; I have enjoyed every day with you all. I will be a Valencianista forever and I hope to be able to return someday.”
Drury began his coaching career at Bradford, where he worked his way up to become head of coaching at the Bantams’ academy. He worked across a variety of the club’s academy sides before that, spending six years with Braford in total.
Drury moved to Manchester United, where he coached the under-15s side for two years. But it was his relationship with Corberan that helped him make the step up into senior first-team football, first as his assistant at West Brom.
He decided to leave Corberan and his staff at Valencia to work alongside Andrews in the Premier League. “Martin has been on a long journey and had lots of different experiences,” the Irishman said upon his arrival in west London.
The departure of Frank to Tottenham left a void at Brentford, who filled it by promoting Andrews from set piece coach to head coach. The club also lost star players Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United and Yoane Wissa to Newcastle in the summer transfer window.
They have started the campaign with defeats against Nottingham Forest and Sunderland and a win over Aston Villa. Brentford also beat Bournemouth 2-0 in the Carabao Cup.
