Let’s start with the big shock of the day and a historic result for Namibia as they beat Tunisia 1-0 in their Group E opener. Deon Hotto scored a header in the 88th minute, securing the Brave Warriors their first ever win at Afcon.
Let’s move on now to Group D where Burkina Faso narrowly beat Mauritiania 1-0 in their opener. Burkina Faso looked set to join big hitters Egypt, Cameroon, Algeria, Nigeria and Ghana in failing to win their opening match. Bertrand Traoré got the winner in the 96th minute after converting a penalty.
And now let’s talk about Tuesday’s late kick off. Mali beat South Africa 2-0 in group E. A solid performance from Mali with a talented squad, perhaps their most talented in a while.
