130 countries ‘agree with science’ to phase out fossil fuels, lack ‘clear direction & urgent action’


Nearly 200 countries agreed Wednesday to move away from planet-warming fossil fuels — the first time they’ve made that crucial pledge in decades of UN climate talks. Despite the breakthrough, many warned the deal still had significant shortcomings. « It does not go far enough, » NGO Global Citizen Vice President Friederike Roder tells FRANCE 24’s Genie Godula, adding « it’s a step in the right direction but it’s not the big leap that we need ».
